Difference between responsibility and liability


In some languages, responsibiliy and liability can easily be confused. Responsibility is an obligation to do or not to do something. Liability is the legal responsibility.

Responsibility: An obligation to do or not to do some act. It is primarily based on action rather than the consequences of one's failure

Liability: Liability is the legal responsibility. Liability is based on responsibility. No one can be held liable without being responsible therefore.
