Difference between present and current

These two notions are sometimes confused because although both refer to the present time in a way, there are differences between meanings and usage. The main difference is that while present means at the moment, right now, current refers to recent, not long past. Present can also mean
somebody being available. Both are used as adjectives primarily. There are some expressions which can be used either only with present (for example: present queen or king) or current (for example: current topic, current issue).
