Difference between notice and invitation


To make sure that a person attends some kind of meeting, you may either give notice or send an invitation, depending on the circumstances.

Both a notice and an invitation has the same purpose but they are used in different contexts.

A notice is a kind of notification given to members of an organization or shareholders of a company informing them of the time, date and venue of the meeting of such organization. It is based on a legal requirement to give such notice in due time before the date of holding a meeting. The notice must always be given in writing, however, the form of giving the notice may vary from personal through postal to electronic ways.

An invitation is a request to a person to participate a specific event. An invitation can be given verbally. Invitations are sometimes printed on nice papers and reflect emotions, too.

In summary, a notice is a formal document, used mainly in the life of companies or other organizations, to call someone to participate at the meeting of the main decision-making body, while an invitation is an informal request to someone to attend an event for any purpose.
