Difference between ambition and goal

Ambition and goal are sometimes confused in terms of their usage, although one of them means something more than pure motivation. Goal can be desired result that a person whishes to achieve. In other words, it is a target someone wants to reach. Ambition, on the other hand, means the desire or a motivation that drives a person. To put it differently, a goal is a target, an end-point from where a person sees themselves after a certain period of time. Also, goals can be short or long term. Ambition, on the contrary, refers to the strong willpower which keeps a person going on even after some setbacks. Similar to goals, there are short and long term ambitions.
