These terms are often used as interrelated, however, they differ in terms of education level and responsibilities. Firstly, a technologist has a greater role. This means that while a technician has a practical understanding of technology, a technician has a good knowledge of the general principles of their field, whereas a technologist is aware of various technologies. Thus, a technologist controls the technician, former’s position is above. As for their education, a technologist has an engineering degree; a technician has some kind of lower degree or a sort of diploma certificate. When it comes to responsibilities, a technologist is the leader of a team, and his duties include researching, analyzing, designing, conducting studies, developing prototypes and of course, guiding technicians. On the contrary, a technician is involved in repairing, maintenance and troubleshooting. A technologist is responsible for innovative ideas, and the technician applies those ideas.
