Statute of Limitation: Defence which attempts to terminate an existing legal proceeding by claiming its untimely initiation in situations where the dispute is otherwise ripe for adjudication.
Bar: A legal action to bar the commencement or continuation of a legal proceeding is based on a variety of grounds, for instance that the forum in which it has been commenced has no jurisdiction over the parties or the issue, or the dispute is not yet ripe for litigation or performance under any circumstances cannot be compelled.
