Difference between slavic and slavonic

British English uses the word Slavonic, while in American English, the word Slavic is preferred. However, the two words mean the same.

The words Slavic or Slavonic may refer to Slavic people (an ethno-linguistic group living in Europe and Asia), or Slavic languages, Slavic mythology etc.

Slovak is a Slavic or a Slavonic language.
