Per stirpes: Term used to designate a system of inheritance under which children inherit the share which their parent would have received had they survived the decedent. Thus the children are said to claim their shares by representing their parent.
Per capita: An alternative way of distribution, where heirs of the same generation will each receive the same amount from the inheritance.
