To put it simply, nationality refers to the country where a person was born, while citizenship means the legal status, that is, an individual who has been registered with the government. Nationality is inherited from parents (which is called natural phenomenon), while an individual can receive citizenship only if he is accepted into the political frameworks of a given country through legal terms. In other words, nationality can be described as a term referring to belonging to a group which has the same culture, whereas citizenship means a legal status.
