Both of them are part of computers. Hardware is any physical device. It is described as a hard drive which can be connected to the computer, for example a CD-ROM, a computer display monitor or a printer. Without any hardware, no software would be able to function. Software is the general term which describes a collection of computer programs, a collection of code installed on the computer. Software means an ordered section to change the state of the hardware. Hardware is to store and execute or run software.
