Democracy and monarchy refer to two completely different forms of governance. In a monarchy, the head of the state is decided upon heredity, there is no elections for it. The crown is passed from one generation to another and it is essential to be part of the royal family because the children of the monarch inherit the power and the title. There are two types of this form: absolute monarchy-which means the royal family has supreme powers and it can participate in law making, what is more, people have no voice-and constitutional monarchy, meaning that the power is isolated from the monarch in the constitution of the country. They are rather symbolic and they represent the country. So, while democracy is a system that is lead by elected representatives, monarchy is lead by a monarch or the royal family. In democracy, everyone is equal before the law, while in monarchy, the monarch decides upon this. Democracies, for example: India, USA, Hungary etc. Constitutional monarchy: UK. Absolute monarchy: Saudi Arabia.
